good things do happen, even when you lose teeth

OK, in trying to keep "positive" and see God at work....(this after my stunningly incredible last post is GONE) I"ve been reading a lot in Joshua. .and I have my own Jericho walls of debt, depression and daffiness. Joshua, led an army to be able to tear down the walls, when God chose to do it an easier way. I'm beliving this for me and my future, and with that.....several things of note have happened-- and this just today.~~!!!

Helena Got $$ to go to camp for 2nd week. I felt very bad as she was crying when I left. She had been on again off again about going...and trying to rely on Love and Logic...I let HER make the decision. It was awful. One GOOD thing is..each dorm --Cabin-- has Air Conditioning, a MUST with this heat. There is a Heat Warning out today and tomorrow until 8 pm

My Van Broke down. Yeah, that was not a good thing, but I was able to make it home. That is a good thing. No towing etc. It has been very wierd. Anyway...everything just STOPS. Then, after a few minutes..I can start it and it will run.
Note to Self: When a vehicle does not have power, and one is pulling into a parking lot into the shade with no power steering ..the BRAKES dont work.
WHY I was traveling with a 12 yr. old, a dog and NO water/cooler is beyond me. I turned off the air, which I think helped the engine, however it was 94 going down the highway.

Another good thing, I didn't hit any vehicles in above parking lot.! Came close to crashing into the side of a black one.

A friend was dropping her 3 kids off at camp, recognized my van, and pulled off. She was able to follow me all the way to Mt. Pleasant where I had an appointment.

I had an appointment at 1:30 to show the Duplex which has been vacant, non-rent producing for MONTHS. I was able to make it to show. I think it is rented. The woman (new hire attorney at the Casino) drove up from East Lansing to look at it.

I got a rent check from the tenant on the other side.

Joy Lost 2 teeth, fronts on the bottom. The first she was kind of scared. The second one, we were over at Lori's and Lori just POPPED it out. So she must be on the path to growth...she is also pretty healthy despite the recent prognosis.(Asthma) And, because Robyn has been kickin my ass, we have an appointment with the Allergist. (and what is with all the teeth around here? First Bugsy loses two then Joy.) I was just IM'ing my Aunt, and told her Joy had lost 2 teeth, and she (we all have a wierd sense of humor) asked if I had punched her. LOL.

Kids were able to go swimming, so was Bugsy at the pond at Camp today.

We had great watermelon. The first of the summer for me.

I was able to pay 3 months House insurance today.

I was able to get 2 prescriptions. ...One was 30 and one was 15..what to people DO without insurance? Probably what I did...Pick the 2 most important....and Blessed to have insurance.

I have water! Able to take a shower. After having no power a couple weeks ago, its still fresh enough in my mind to be huge.

I got 27 dollars in gas for the Van.

I got to go out for Breakfast with my Mom, cousin, and 2 kids. We went to Ponderosa (Kids eat FREE!!), before I took Helena to Camp.

I soaked my feet and gave myself a pedicure.

I put up a sheet so the front room can stay cooler. We have AIR CONDITIONING!!

Don and I and Lori were able to LAUGH until we thought we were going sprew watermelon out our noses. The art of conversation was apparent tonight. We sat around Lori's..kids outside in pool and just TALKED. Tv off, talked about GOD, books and movies. Lori thinks God punishes her for being "mean" and talking about people. Heck..we just think that's sport. God is bigger than our petty thoughts. They have gotten new carpet, new window treatments, new bathroom furnishing, spending over 4 grand to sell their house, and just dropped the price by 10 grand. Weird stuff.

Ok There is more I am sure, But I feel like a turkey in a deep fryer. Its HOT. I have to set WIlliam up to sleep in the front room. His room is just too dang hot.

Oh yes, and the tomatoes are growing on the vine.

My hope is that my walls, continue to tumble.

awwck lost post

I hardly have the heart for this. I had a GREAT post. Phone rang, kid yelling, left the computer..someone else got on..BLITZ Freeking gone.

Tick .....tock

SO William came to me tonight upset. He said that a 14 year old girl that had been at one of the weddings we have been to recently, died.

She had been suffering from seizures. Her legs were paralyzed. Doctors had NO clue as to the cause.

then, her mom, was gliding her fingers through her hair, and found a Tick.

They removed the tick, but the girl died.

Friends, Fairs, and Fireworks

Robyn left yesterday. Its always so sad when they leave. More About this When I'm not dead tired.

I had to go to work afterwards and it was a very hectic day...Foster Parent Picnic, tons of stuff to do, very unorganized, low turnout. EXCEPT the firetruck that I was able to get was a big hit I think. They gave rides, brought stickers books etc.

Today..I woke up with a SCREAMING headache. Did relaxation breathing, drugs, massage, and finally just decided to take off with the kids. Rode around, ended up at the fair at a friends Trailer. They stay there, and the kids all show stuff for 4-H. Even my migraine stuff didn't work. Ate sloppy's, went to small animal auction. The Dozen eggs from the top hen..went for -------------$$250 dollars. Wow. It was very nice (headache all the time did I mention that). William obsessing about a game that had to be returned tonight.
I was able to get in the gate FREE which was nice, told the kids beforehand we were NOT doing any rides, but we enjoyed the craft booths, the atmosphere, and the people watching. After the Auction all the small animal people give a dinner, so we ate great (Non Fair carny food)- real barbeque beef, white baked beans, pot salad, french bread. Great stuff. (no goat meat tho) at least I hope not...
Joy LOVED on and off of the Tractors. She also found one of those little vehicles with the dump truck thing on the back, and persuaded almost all in our group at one time or another to sit with her in the passenger side while she "drove". She even got William up there, and then got him to "drive" while she rode. She always Made the person put on their seat belt. When we ran into Sheryle (from Canada and her twin boys, and autistic girl) She put the twins on one at a time, then both together. She was so Cute, and a great "hostess" of the vehicle. She was happy to show them around the animal barns, and my Friend was there so we got to pet her goat.

Then tonight...FIREWORKS. It was a great show. We were able to sit right near their camper, so we were VERY comfortable. There is something about watching fireworks with people that makes you closer. I don't understand how someone can leave a fireworks show, or be walking AWAY from the fireworks and not watching as they are Exploding behind them.
Life is too short to miss any fireworks show. It is art in action. I think there will be fireworks in Heaven. I think God likes looking DOWN at them, as we are looking UP at them..and I like thinking that "we" are watching them at the same time.

Patty Pishos

Patty and I went to School together. I really REALLY liked her. She was REAL. She loved her grandmother who was Greek, and I loved hearing her stories of her Grandma. She loved her grandma's Baklava.
Even tho I haven't seen her or heard from her in years, I suddenly miss her. We were 1 month and 1 day apart in Birthdays.

The "Eyes" have it.

My Sister/friend Robyn is here. She has the EYE, but it's NOT the "evil" eye.
This woman is incredible. She can tour six different stores over 5 days, and remember what matches what in each store. She accounts for texture, color and "emotion" in pieces.
I took alll of our kids to Church Sunday morning, got Waylaid afterwards by a lady who was homeless with her 3 kids. They had been staying with "in laws" but "she thought they were talking about her", so she left..they spent the night in their car.

I did what I could, called women's aid...got her a temporary place to stay. Had good interaction with the "new" pastor. At least he's not a complete dolt. I spoke pretty frankly with the woman...her husband was in jail on a Parole Violation..but hes "a good guy"
yah....smoked some good herb...as his brother unexpectedly died, then...tested Postive..so I inquire further due to my Parole/Probation backgroud,....oh..Original charge was .....BANK ROBBERY!!!! AWWCKKKKKK!!!

Ok then We got home and that "wascally wabbit'wobyn"..had gone up to Meijers or somewhere in mt pleasant. SHe "test sat" some dining room chairs. They are "espresso color"...and sat well. She gifted us six of them . ANd not only gifted them..But..put them all together...we had a heck of a time just finding the basic tools needed to assemble them. One more reason I'm getting organized.

My thinking has changed somehow. I am so incredibly grateful. The kitchen looks totally different with matching chairs. They don't have arms on them so they don't take up TONS of room. I think that is the first "new" furniture I've ever had. I love everything she does. She and her husband are two of the hardest working people I know. she loves and accepts me for who I am, and sometimes that is really humbling to realize how much she loves me. Somehow I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop and something to happen...her get mad at me and loose a friendship or something. I trust her with everything I got..LOL... She is SOOO good with wallpaper, paint etc....She could make a brick shit outhouse look good. Its been a blast, we've been trying to figure out a Career option for her on the side besides her "real" job.
Oh..speaking of Jobs....I guess I better get back to work.

HOT LaNta

So..I flew out to Atlanta Friday morning.
Had gone out with Lori Thursday night...well..that was part of the last post..LOL...Had a very relaxing drive to Airport Friday morning..good coffee...great music, just very.."gentle". Traffic great etc..
Got to Flint..no hitches...and was seated next to a Pastor's wife. We started talking before we sat down..and kept it up till after the Plane landed.
She and her husband buy rentals, and I was amazed by her. Carleen and Larry Holley.

She was real-and funny, and cool. They were on their way to Florida to do a Financial seminar.

I just can't comprehend this connection yet.

You Changed My Life

So..sat in a VERY long boring 6 hour meeting to day about homelessness in Gratiot County..YES there is homeless people..the Definition is incorrect..
However..AFTER the meeting...
I called gf, and we went to the Ithaca Pub
Big Guy Waits on us, lip ring..mowhawk under his cap. I didn't really pay much attention to him.
We saw our good friend BUD. A couple times.
I get up to pee. (why so many of my posts mention PEE I don't know)
On the way back..the big guy was shooting pool with another worker..He says..HEY DONNA
(WHOA)Stops me in my tracks (Well..because that's my NAME).
You still working at Davenport??
Now, I have not taught at the University in over 5 years. I THINK the last time I taught I was preggos with Joy because I remember seeing one of my students AFTER I had JOy...he had seen me when I was like 7 months preggos and big ass a trailer, and I introduced him (she was about a week old).
SO
Back the The PUB guy
I say,,No..you have to have a MAster's, (and I'm only good enough to get REJECTED for a Master's Program)...
He says..
YOU CHANGED MY LIFE.
yep
Just like that.
He said, You were the BEST teacher I ever had, you kept me interested, and wanting to learn.
(He also said Sally a friend of my SIL's was the WORST-She taught english and he said She was MISRABLE and Mean).

But Hey..I want this post to be about ME ME ME!
So..
I stand there looking at the guy..realizing I didn't even know his name. We talked about the class (Interpersonal Communication)aka speech...and he said..the class made him more aware of himself, gave him the ability to talk to people better, and have a lot more confidence.
He said..Thanks.

I stood there, trying to take it all in. Of course..I KNEW he was Brilliant!!
But really...
I changed a guy's life (in a POSTIVE WAY!! LOL)..and didn't even know it.

I wonder how many times that has happened that I don't know about. HOw many people in MY life, have helped me change MINE that dont' know it? (I try to not make it many as I am a Firm believer in thank yous and recognitions.

The other day..riding the Dial a ride buss with the summer kids to movies, I start talking to the driver. Didn't recognize him..but he was in my High School Graduating class.
I said..Do you know me? He said Yes....I remember. I said..Was I mean to you? He said..um..YAH...Sort of kidding..but not really. I apoligized..said..I was so unhappy in High School, and so MEAN...I was So MAD I was sort of a bully. ANyway..I got to apologize. That was sort of in the same vein as the guy in The PUB.

so..THe guy in the Pub..Thanked me again as we were leaving.

No buddy...Thank YOU.

The Mouse in Krisscop's House

Ok. Read My profile. What is NOT to understand from "HATE MICE". You'd think then that Nice little mice would simply MOVE along..that's right..go to the farm down the street with 37 cats.
BUT NOOOOOO....
The Honnking Huge mouse has to decide to take a stay at my place.
So..Lori and I were in the girl's room chatting..when out of the corner of my eye..I THINK I see something under the antique collapsible table that has 4 chairs inside. It has an old window pane door sitting on top. Lori says "WHAT??"..I say..Um...well..nothing..She says YOU SAW A MOUSE didn't YOU!!...Ugh...yah..SHE says she thought she saw one too.
Ok we are both grossed out.
She was making a run to Wal=mart for Laundry soap, trash bags, and now...Mouse traps.
Oh yah..glue and the SNAP kind. (I personally Prefer the SNAP kind..I love HEARING them die).
So...we call Don...Lori insisting there was an EMERGENCY, and GEES couldn't he just rush home to us. LOL.
SOO Don (at his appointed time) sets out THE TRAP. Under the collapsing table.
This morning..I got up...LOOKED (I can be brave when someone is here)...NOTHING..it hadn't moved and I could still see daylight through it.
This afternoon, Lori came back...I can be brave...I bend down from in My bedroom, looking into the hallway...THE TRAP IS GONE!! AWWCKKK!! I can't believe it!! I move the table out...NOTHING.
Then ...we are cleaning in William's room, and neither of us are very motivated...I had sort of looked around for the mouse..and didn't find anything. Once, While tossing a brown wooden box...WE BOTH jumped out of our skin....I DID NOT do it on purpose. Mice are NOTHING to kid about.
So...I look into my bedroom..There is Bugsy the dog..Um...Well...With the Glue mouse trap stuck on her face. I cant tell if she has EATEN the mouse or not. Then we had to Peel the mouse trap off her face, and Dig out the sticky stuff that was in her mouth. That was true doggy love..as I KNEW There could be Mouse flesh sticking in her teeth.
AWWCKKK!!!
Neither one of us would allow the dog to come near us after that..No mousy breath for us. UGH!!.. DID SHE or DIDN'T she??? ..I would have felt a LOT better had I found a mousy carcass. Even a stray little mousy foot in her mouth would have relieved me somewhat. NOW I don't know if its Gone..or lurking.

WHY oh why did my only Mouser cat take off? NOW is when I miss Alex the most. The fat old lucky Simon..just doesn't cut it.
Oh well..Maybe Bugsy the dog will turn out to be a good mouser. For now though..Keep that doggy breath away from me.

Living with pain

Well living with pain as a constant companion is really REALLY starting to take its toll on me.
My right ankle, reconstructed in 1998 after a car crash (ankle foot/ had to be "extracted" from my leg)..a Plate the length of my foot, with about 13 skrews in it.
Ok..Don't get me wrong..I hardly EVER complain of pain. And yes, when I do..idiots say..."well at least you can walk". Yes that is true also. And I also worked damn hard to be able to walk again. Thank you's to Gratiot County Medical Center Rehab team!..However..that has little or nothing to do with the CONSTANT consistant throbbing (insert numerous swear words) PAIN I have been having.
I"m trying to take it in stride. Literally. Except..well..I have problems walking. Oh gads..now I'm gonna start bawling.
Oh maybe because it's only 1:22 am, and I"M STILL AWAKE BECAUSE OF PAIN.
Then sometimes it's not my ankle. Sometimes its my HIp that is out of sorts because one Crushed leg is shorter than the other. My thigh...was "crushed like a smashed bag of Potato Chips" according to Dr. Lilly.
I have Cadaver bones, plates, screws...probably a Screw loose...I'd laugh But I can't because..You got it--PAIN. I literally have some of my hip bone in my ankle bone..thanks to bone chips and grafts.
and Nobody cares.
If you don't live with the constant "static" of pain..you can't begin to relate. Waking up in the morning..those blissful first few moments when a cat or kid is not kicking you in the head...those twilight moments are perfect..then..STAB of pain, I can't walk for an hour after I get up...people are asking me "why are you limping" and I want to rip their heads off. Yes, I DO appreciate when they notice tho. At least it (the pain) has a literal Face (the limp).
Crying doesn't help...it just makes my nose run. (That sounds like a good title for a country western song). Oh great..now on top of PAIN...I Just cried a contact lens out

I get tired of it. I get tired of it I get tired of it..I AM TIRED of it. My back neck and hip are in pain...because of my ankle.
Life is not real fun right now.
Oh Yah. and We are beyond broke.
We have next to no food in the cupboard..(PLEASE Grommlet...give me some CHEEXZE) and pleaxze dont remind me that it is "give us this day our DAILY bread"..it gets VERY old wondering where the next meal is going to come from..only to see dear kids dad be creative with box of potatoes, pancake mix and egg. (or The crappiest cut of meat given to us by someone that has turned into "mystery meat" in the big freezer.)
We are not wasters, we give to those in need..lend to those in need, and are NOT grudging. We dont have new cars, or decent wardrobes. Its getting to the point I"m embarrased to see the front of the house for lack of paint and roof thingys underneath. Even the damn baby bird was falling out of the roofline. I don't like feeling like white trash. I just KNOW the Septic tank is going to over fill, and then we will truely have SHIT on our hands.
Somehow tho...the stupid dog makes me laugh, a LOT, and for a few seconds..I forget about the pain. "Oh wreched man that I am..who can deliver me?"

My dear mudder used to say "they dont' have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of". Well..We have lots of windows. And..one of children has a LOT of pee..but that's another post.

The Value of a Drink

The Value of a Drink

"Sometimes when I reflect back on all the wine I drink
I feel shame Then I look into the glass and think
about the workers in the vineyards and all of their hopes
and dreams . If I didn't drink this wine, they might be out
of work and their dreams would be shattered.
Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this wine and let their
dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."

And saving the best for last, as explained by Cliff Clavin, of Cheers.
One afternoon at Cheers, Cliff Clavin was explaining the Buffalo ,Theory to his buddy Norm.
Here's how it went:

"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

Michigan woman's arm severed in mysterious incident

MILAN, Mich. (AP) -- A woman's arm was severed in a mysterious incident over the weekend, and authorities have been unable to find the missing limb.

Brenda Humphrey, 34, of Romulus, was listed in serious condition Tuesday at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Washtenaw County, hospital spokeswoman Lauren Stokes said.

Monroe County sheriff's Lt. Dale Malone told The Blade of Toledo, Ohio, that he and other deputies spent hours looking for the woman's arm after the incident was reported about 1 a.m. Sunday.

Stephen Humphrey, 39, told deputies that he and his wife had been at a bar in Milan. After leaving, Brenda Humphrey got out of their truck a few miles from the bar, and her husband drove away. When he returned, he found her in a ditch missing an arm, he told authorities.

"Both were intoxicated," Malone said. "We're still not sure what happened."

No charges have been filed.

MOVIE: OFFICE SPACE

from Creator Mike Judge..

What a crack up. This flick is so silly in parts it's stupid..but that made me LAUGH. Main guy has an apt where the neighbor can hear EVERYTHING..at one point he says if he had a million bucks he would want "to do two chicks" at a time...he's questioned..TWO chicks at a time..thats IT with a million bucks??..he says..YEAH it would take MONEY for two chicks to double up on a guy like me....LOL...
There is token "handcapper" guy who ends up with everything in the end, has let's see, hes Fat, a lisp, OCD, becomes attached to a stapler (pun intended). He had also gotten laid off 5 years before, but nobody bothered to tell him.

Plot was thin, but depicted office spaces perfectly..the nasty cubicles, overhearing EVERYTHING from someone else's. Man..I loved the Dept. Of Corrections days when I had an office and a DOOR that SHUT. speaking of the DOC:
Michael Bolton: If we get caught, we're not going to white-collar resort prison. No, no, no. We're going to federal POUND ME IN THE ASS prison.
Samir: I don't want to go to ANY prison!

Anyway..back to the Flick..some GREAT quotes:

One from a "people person".. Tom Smykowski: Well-well look. I already told you: I deal with the god damn customers so the engineers don't have to. I have people skills; I am good at dealing with people. Can't you understand that? What the hell is wrong with you people?
HA HA HA
Then the boss..always using the phrase..."That would be great". I think I may have to start encorporating that. Actually..I already do, in Love and Logic its called = "assumption of compliance"..you make a request, then say THANK you..and walk away assuming it is GOING to be done.."that would be great"...LOL.

Peter Gibbons: Good luck with your layoffs, all right? I hope your firings go really, really well.

Recommend? YES, keep an open mind and don't get bogged down by the silliness.

Freedom, Love and SPEED

What a few days. After being SOO relaxed on Tuesday, and the Meeting on Weds...Thursday was Very Cool.
First of all, Thursday, Don and I had our wedding anniversary. We will celebrate later alone, but we took the girls out of summer program, visited the school to drop off a bunch of supplies, went to Mt Pleasant as my Uncle is here from Florida. He is SO cool, and Loving and supportive, and Family oriented. Uncle Don moved to Florida back when they had a shoreline. He didn't even put Air conditioning into his house because of the Huge Breeze from the ocean. WELL...with the build up of hotels etc...They don't have that breeze anymore.
We went to one park, Uncle Don being THRILLED at the trees, and hills, and greenery. WE let Bugsy go swimming at the park. She was SO happy..She learned how to swim against the current, by going up close to the shore. She was GRINNING!!
Then We got some PICNIC food, went to Nelson park, and had a wonderful family picnic. --Ham and Cheese Sandwiches, sweet honey mustard, Chips, pop..Etc. Bugsy met many new friends..And One especially cute Brown lab that was still tiny enough to fit comfortably in his owners ONE hand!! She went swimming some more, and we were "chillin". Joy had to pee...And sooo she took off her clothes and went into the river in her undies....(I refused to ask if she "did" it in the river, but she was MUCH more relaxed!!).
Then..We came home and had a little bit of quiet time before PUPPY CLASS. Bugs was one tired pooch. She likes seeing all her pals, and loves getting the little treats. So far, we have worked on : SIT, DOWN (laying down on floor), Heel (NOt the Heel friends I pick out but HEEL as in left side of body walking NOT pulling on leash), Then this week...STAY, LEAVE IT, and Stand. ITs a LOT to pack into an hour, but we love it. I"m going to call my friend Jan that trains dogs and get signed up for another one.
Also Thursday..Chaos was supreme as we Could NOT find a wedding invitation for a Wedding YESTERDAY. I had to go up to Camp to pick William up after Evening Chapel...On the way, I figured I had enough time to swing by Midland and "work" on Kevin's son's back. (Son is in PAIN, trying to get free from Oxycoctin addiction). SOO worked on him (heh heh 23 year old IN SHAPE body..but I digress)...Then Kevin Volunteered to drive me up to Gladwin THE SPRINGS to Get Will. That was SO nice, as it was late, He drives a LOT faster than me, and I was sort of scared. So We get William, and To our DELIGHT..>Kevin regaled William with stories of his racing car Days. William Understood about "boring out, adding a # 1 package" and tons of stuff I didn't get. Kevin will take us to Flint to see some cool car shops that rebuild, re-bore or whatever. Kevin is one of the most amazing friends I"ve ever had. I think its because he reminds me SOOOOO much of Joe Broccoli, but 10X smarter. Kevin would periodically "drop" the engine and go RAcing DOWN THE HIGHWAY for us. What a blast..One time..He SMOKED his tires REALLY good..And EEERRRRRRGHHHHHH TOOK off leaving skid marks. It just 'dont' get no better than that.

Well..I haven't even gotten to the wedding yet...maybe next post. It was Classy, sharp and FUN. When asked by the Pastor for a token of his affection, the groom got the ring from the Best Man, who pulled out a CANDY RING. THe groom took a few sucks off of it..Offered it to his bride to the immense humor of the audience. IT was Cute, and NOT in poor taste. The Pastor told the groom..HEY QUIT LOOKING AT HER AND LISTEN TO ME!! EVeryone laughed. The rest of us LOVED meeting Bernie, and Dar his wife.
William and Don Flew out there 2 years ago (Colorado). Bernie is the FIRST person to truly introduce Don to Christ. That is a story in and of itself. The Seed of that discussion rolled around in Don's heart for years.

Just got TONS more stuff to do this weekend!! ALL of it FUn, some of it work but still fun.
Happy Freedom to Us, longevity to my union, and SPEED for all. Here's to the ooh's and ahh's of the fourth.
